My twins were born at 33.5 weeks and had no NICU time.
I had been hospitalized a month prior and had 2 series of steroid shots. I had pneumonia and was threatening PTL. They were my smallest babes by far: 6.11 and 7.2 My 10 pounder singelton was born 3 days LATE and spent 2 weeks in NICU because she was lazy and didn't want to breathe on her own. I am totally amazed (and thrilled) that my twinnies required no NICU time. Sometimes I look back and am amazed that I survived the first year, my DH was travelling a LOT at the time. |

I had nothing wrong with me or my twins throughout the whole pregnancy till January came along. January1st, i started the worst cold i've ever had! Which i still had a little bit of when i was forced to have a C-Section on Jan.9th 2009 at 34.2weeks. They found out i had Preeclampsia, and HELPP Syndrome. I went in for test result appointment at 10am, and my 4.2 & 4.6oz boys were born at 10:20 & 10:21pm! :D
Baby B was sent to NICU right away with some "sticky lungs", and only had to use a breathing mask thing for about 12hrs. He progressed quickly through Jaundice and not keeping his own body temp! He came home 2weeks after being born! Baby A was in regular nursery for 23hrs, then showed signs of dehydration, so they moved him to NICU. He did not have anything else wrong with him other than he could not keep his own body temp and needing to eat properly. He came home 3weeks after being born! Since then they both have been through a lot; bad constipation, hip problems, sucking/swallowing issues, and acid reflux! AND THEY'RE ONLY 4months old!! The hardest part was being sent home from the hospital when they were in the NICU still. I lived an 90minutes away from the hospital they were born at. Then when i was able to take Baby B home, and leave Baby A and some days not having enough strength to go visit Baby A because i was constantly taking care of Baby B..... omg, that was more painful then my whole pregnancy and birth! Even though at the time it felt like forever, the time passed quickly and then they were home with their loving happy family! My advice to other mom & dad's who have to go through something like this, or worse, is to have faith. In God mostly, and also in the Dr's and nurses who are taking care of your little ones! They mean well and are there FOR YOUR FAMILY!! If you live too far, find out all you can about what "benefits" or "deals" you can get to stay close by the hospital. God bless and YAY FOR TWINS!!! :D .Amber Olsen. |

My twins were born at 37 weeks via scheduled c-section. David had to spend time in the nicu because he was born with a heart defect. Matthew did not. They are claimed to be fraternal but not acutal DNA tested. They look alot alike but not identical. I spotted at the very beginning but that was it. My twins were concieved naturally.
