Default Question about cysts and pregnancy.

So my sil found out she has a cyst on her ovary. Anybody dealt with them and have a successful pregnancy? I think she is 5 or 6 weeks pregnant. I read where they can do surgery if necessary. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated!

If she's that early, it's probably still the Corpus Luteum cyst. Once the baby is well established, the placenta will start producing it's own progesterone, and the CL cyst resolves. At this point, they just watch it, but can remove it laparascopically if it continues to grow. It doesn't necessarily mean the pregnancy is in trouble. She just has to watch out for increased pain. HTH.

I had one at seven weeks. It was smaller by my 11 week ultrascreen and gone by week 18.

My MIL had an ovarian cyst when she was pregnant with my DH. She had it removed surgically when she was 5 months along, and that was in 1975, so I'm sure surgery techniques are much more advanced now than they were then.

I also had one during my pregnancy, but by the end it was gone.
And congrats to your SIL!

I had one with my twins. It ruptured at about 22 weeks, but no harm done. Just hurt like someone had beat the crap out of me.

I also had an ovarian cyst when pregnant, it went away on it's own.
